MILTON, Mass. – In its final non-conference match of the 2010 season, the Wentworth women's volleyball team defeated Curry, 3-0.  The win, the Leopards' eighth of the season, doubles the total number of wins posted during the 2009 campaign.

The visiting Leopards shot out to a 12-1 lead in the first set then cruised to a 25-9 win. The hosts played a closely-contested second set, trailing by only two points on two separate occasions (11-9, 14-12). But Wentworth closed on an 11-5 run to wrap up the middle set. After trailing 18-7 in the final set, the Colonels wound up outscoring their opponent 10-7 the rest of the way, but could not overcome the 11-point deficit.

Wentworth was led by sophomore Julie Rahilly (Nashua, N.H.) who had a match-high 12 kills to go along with 10 digs and six service aces.  Rahilly hit .375 for the match.  Freshman Michelle Hobbs (Northwood, N.H.) had six kills, hit .385, and had eight digs, while sophomore Rebecca Williams (Brockton, Mass.) had 17 assists and eight digs for the victors.

Playing in her last collegiate match, Curry senior right-side hitter Valerie Harrison (East Boston, Mass.) put away a team-high five kills. Freshmen Jessica Crugnale (North Reading, Mass.) and Jenna Butera (Norfolk, Mass.) shared team-high honors with 10 digs apiece.

Wentworth improves to 8-19 on the season and closes out the regular season on Saturday against Regis and Colby-Sawyer in a tri-match hosted by Regis.  The Leopards need to defeat the Pride in order to qualify for The Commonwealth Coast Conference Tournament.  Curry closes out its inaugural season with a 2-15 record.  The Colonels will play a full conference schedule next season.
