Academic All-District Honors Bestowed on Romich

BOSTON, Mass. – Senior guard Kyle Romich (Groton, Mass.) of the Wentworth Institute of Technology men's basketball team has been named to the 2016 College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District™ Men's Basketball Team.

Romich, a Business Management major, is one of five Division III men's basketball student-athletes in New England to be named to the first team which earns him a spot on the national ballot. The 2016 CoSIDA Academic All-America™ Men's Basketball Teams will be released on Tuesday, March 1. He becomes Wentworth's 25th Academic All-District selection since 1995 and the first men's basketball player to be selected since Eric Witchel '01 earned the honor in 2000 and 2001.

A two-time Commonwealth Coast Conference Player of the Week selection, Romich has started all 22 games for the Leopards and is averaging 17.5 points, 6.1 rebounds, and 2.4 assists per game. Named to both the Coaches vs Cancer Greater Boston Shootout and Clark Alumni Holiday Tournament All-Tournament teams, he had a career-high 31 points in a 77-75 win over Endicott on Jan. 14 and has scored 20 or more points in eight games.

In his second season with the Leopards after spending two seasons at Saint Anselm College, Romich has started 22 of the 40 games in which he has appeared in during his Wentworth career and is averaging 10.9 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 1.5 assists per game.

Wentworth sits at 12-10 overall and 10-5 in CCC play. The Leopards host Salve Regina on Saturday afternoon.
