QUINCY, Mass. – Josh Deschene's (Webster, Mass.) second half penalty kick and unassisted goal within 16 seconds of each other lifted Wentworth to a 2-1 win over Eastern Nazarene today in The Commonwealth Coast Conference action at Veterans Memorial Field in Quincy, Mass. today.
Eastern Nazarene scored first, late in the first half on a Charles Dybaud (Quincy, Mass.) header past Brian Pearsall (Sanford, Maine) at 38:55, and took a 1-0 lead at the break.
With John Golden (Whitman, Mass.) being taken down in the penalty area following a shot, Deschene stepped up to the penalty spot and placed the shot to the right side of goal, beating Lion keeper Andrew Trice (Quincy, Mass.) and tying the game at 1-1. Shortly following, the Leopards broke through the Lions defense again and Deschene finished the opportunity to turn the game on its head in just a matter of a seconds and give the visitors a 2-1 lead they would not relinquish.
Wentworth held the advantage over Eastern Nazarene in shots and corners, 17-14 and 6-3, respectively. Pearsall is credited with the win, making seven saves. Price takes the loss after making eight saves
Eastern Nazarene (0-7, 0-3 TCCC) tries to get its first win of the year on Wednesday against Wheaton College at 3:30 p.m. at home. Wentworth (3-2, 2-0 TCCC) steps back into action on Tuesday when the Leopards travel to Dudley, Mass. for a 4:00 p.m. TCCC game against Nichols College.
