BOSTON, Mass. – Led by a one-goal and two-assist performance by junior Christopher Jimenez (Doral, Fla.), the Wentworth Institute of Technology men's soccer team (2-1) fended off the Clark Cougars (1-1-1) by a 3-1 score at Sweeney Field Wednesday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • The Cougars applied the pressure early, nicking three shots on senior Noah Lawless (Whitefish Bay, Wisc.) within the first nine minutes, with the last being on net and saved by the goalkeeper.
  • Just over ten minutes after Clark took a shot off the post, they found the back of the net, as junior William Lopez (Brooklyn, N.Y.) sent a cross-seam pass to freshman Marc Kim (Watertown, Mass.), who buried his first collegiate goal at the 27:35 mark.
  • The Leopards didn't waste much time getting things knotted up as a heavy shot by junior Christopher Jimenez (Doral, Fla.) found the post and then the twine at the 30:28 mark, tying the score at 1-1.
  • Just 2:28 later, Jimenez sent a floater right in front of the goal, placed to be headed by senior Jacob Dukeshire (Nashua, N.H.) for the go-ahead goal.
  • Wentworth extended their lead late in the second half as Jimenez sent another ball into the box that was headed into the goal by freshman Dylan Michaud (Hopkinton, Mass.) at the 74:38 mark, extending the hosts' lead to 3-1.
  • The Leopards held on for the win, thanks to nine saves in goal from Lawless. Senior Andrew DiStefano (West Chester, Pa.) made five saves in a setback for the Cougars.

  • Tonight's win was the first-ever for the Leopards against Clark.
