BOSTON, Mass. – Freshman McKenna Everding (Fayetteville, N.Y.) and junior Kristen Pingree (Georgetown, Mass.) each scored four goals and added an assist while junior Kelsy Rahilly (East Longmeadow, Mass.) had a goal and five assists as the Roger Williams women's lacrosse team defeated Wentworth, 18-6, in a Commonwealth Coast Conference contest played on Sweeney Field.
With the win the hawks improve to 3-6 overall and 1-2 in CCC play while the Leopards fall to 3-4 (0-2).
Roger Williams scored the game's first 11 goals as junior Mackenzie Logan (Sussex, N.J.) and Everding each had two goals and Rahilly had a pair of assists. Wentworth junior Jessica Houghton (Billerica, Mass.) got the hosts on the board with 37 seconds left in the half.
The Leopards scored the first two markers of the second half on goals from freshman Molly Dufresne (Plaistow, N.H.) and sophomore Pam Mudge (Hooksett, N.H.). The Hawks would score the next three to bring it back to an 11-goal margin as Everding, sophomore Caitlin Murphy (Londonderry, N.H.), and Pingree scored.
Dufresne scored Wentworth's next two goals, sandwiched around a Pingree marker, to make it 15-5 with 10:02 left, however that would be as close as the Leopards would come as the Hawks scored three of the game's final four goals.
Logan added three goals and an assist, junior Deven Machette (Norwalk, Conn.) had a pair of goals and a pair of assists, Murphy had two goals and one assist, and junior Samantha Davenport (Bethel, Conn.) had a goal and two assists. Freshman Kimberly Bolk (Port Jefferson Station, N.Y.) played the first half, allowing just one goal while classmate Annie Bartkus (Bedford, Mass.) made seven saves in the second half.
Dufresne had three of the Leopards' six goals while Houghton had two and Mudge added one. Houghton had five draw controls and junior Alexandrea Banks (Ellington, Conn.) picked up three ground balls. Junior Robyn Pacini (Stoneham, Mass.) made seven saves in the first half while sophomore Hayley Patton (Cranston, R.I.) made six stops in the second half.
