Women's Lacrosse Suffers Setback at Nichols

DUDLEY, Mass. – Senior Erica Antonison (Albertson, N.Y.), junior Alyssa Bufis (Linden, N.J.), and sophomore Alexa Smith (Salem, N.H.) each scored five goals to propel the Nichols College women's lacrosse team to a 22-6 win over Wentworth Institute of Technology Saturday afternoon in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action at Vendetti Field.

Bufis also handed our four helpers while junior Grace Murphy (Montclair, Va.) recorded a hat trick as the Bison (6-4, 1-2 CCC) have won two-straight and three of their last five. Junior Sam MacMillan (Bridgewater, Mass.) and freshman Brooke Marion (South Hadley, Mass.) each scored twice as Nichols scored the first five goals of the contest and 17 of the first 20.

Freshman Molly Dufresne (Plaistow, N.H.) tallied a pair of goals for the Leopards (3-6, 0-4 CCC) while sophomore Pam Mudge (Hooksett, N.H.) notched a goal and an assist. Sophomore Hayley Patton (Cranston, R.I.) started in goal and made four saves before giving way to junior Robyn Pacini (Stoneham, Mass.), who stopped eight shots.

Nichols outshot WIT 44-18 and caused 32 turnovers, led by sophomore Meghan Dombkowski (Sagaponack, N.Y.) with five and senior Shelby Aminti (Pepperell, Mass.) with four. Aminti also collected a game-high 10 ground balls. Junior Alexandra Banks (Ellington, Conn.) and Pacini each racked up a team-high four GB's while junior Jessica Houghton (Billerica, Mass.) had five draw controls.

Freshman Katherine Cotton (Kennebunk, Maine) recorded five saves to earn her sixth win.

The Bison host Salve Regina Wednesday at 4 p.m. The Leopards host Curry Wednesday at 4 p.m.
