Women's Lacrosse Closes Out 2024 Season Against Endicott

BOSTON, Mass. – In their regular season finale Wednesday night, the Wentworth Institute of Technology women's lacrosse team fell behind early and suffered a 24-2 setback to the Endicott Gulls in conference action.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • The Gulls rattled off the first six goals of the contest, including two by sophomore Mia Smith (Portsmouth, N.H.), to take a 6-0 advantage by the 5:52 mark before junior Shayleah Gunning-Lavoie (Laconia, N.H.) got the Leopards on the board at the 5:02 mark. Sophomore Clare Wendell (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.) cashed in twice for Endicott by quarter's end to mark an 8-1 score.
  • Endicott added nine more tallies to their lead in the second quarter, with three from sophomore Leah Black (Cheshire, Conn.), to take a 17-1 advantage before Wendell and Smith added a goal apiece early in the third frame. Freshman Alivia MacCormack (Westford, Mass.) scored for Wentworth at the 2:36 mark, cutting the deficit to 19-2, before the Gulls ended the game on a 5-0 run.
  • Juniors Kaitlyn Kozak (Saddle Brook, N.J.) and Lily Cohen (Cherry Hill, N.J.) each recorded a caused turnover and two ground balls while the latter posted six saves in goal.
