BOSTON, Mass. – Freshman Mark Pappas (Worcester, Mass.) scored eight points on five goals and three assists and senior Jeff Novak (Killingworth, Conn.) added five goals of his own as the Wentworth men's lacrosse team won its second straight game and evened its record at 4-4 with a 20-12 win over Becker (2-7).  The 20 goals tallied by the Leopards marked the first time since April 27, 2002, when Wentworth defeated Salve Regina, 22-7, the Leopards eclipsed the 20-goal mark.

Wentworth scored four times in the opening 5:43, before the Hawks got on the board.  Two goals in less than a two-minute span gave the Leopards a 6-1 lead after 15 minutes of play.

After the Leopards extended the lead to 8-1, the Hawks stormed back with four straight goals, cutting the lead to 8-5 with 3:50 remaining in the half.  A man-down goal by freshman Mike Sharpe (Needham, Mass.) stopped the run and gave Wentworth a 9-5 lead at the half and Novak opened the second half with a goal to make it a five-goal game.

The Hawks scored a pair of quick goals to trim the lead to 10-7, but that would be as close as they would get, as Wentworth scored five straight to break the game open and would eventually take a 15-8 lead after the third quarter.  The two teams played an even fourth quarter with the Leopards outscoring the Hawks, 5-4, to close the game.

Sophomore Justin Connors (Richboro, Pa.) scored twice and assisted on four others, while Sharpe and sophomore Mike Swenson (East Lyme, Conn.) each had two goals and two assists.  Swenson won 16 of 28 faceoffs and picked up 14 ground balls.  Junior John Bourque (Atkinson, N.H.) had four goals and an assist for Becker, with senior Josh Fask (Worcester, Mass.) scoring a goal and adding four assists.

Senior Sean Tobin (Silver Spring, Md.) made 12 saves to pick up the win for Wentworth, with freshmen Jared Proulx (Nashua, N.H.) and Alex Matses (North Andover, Mass.) making four saves apiece.  Becker junior Joe Corcoran (Toms River, N.J.) made two saves in under three minutes of work, while senior Ryan Murphy (Attleboro, Mass.) made 15 saves.
