SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - Senior defenseman Jeff Ryan (Shrewsbury, Mass.) of the Wentworth men's lacrosse team capped off his outstanding career by being named All-The Commonwealth Coast Conference as an honorable mention selection. The announcement came after a vote of the league's head coaches.
A four-year mainstay on defense for the Leopards and a tri-captain
this season, Ryan played in all 14 of Wentworth's games in 2010,
and, in addition to his defensive work, had a career-best 13
points, coming on three goals and five assists. Ryan picked
up a season-record 108 ground balls (7.71 per game), including a
career-best 14 in a 20-3 win over Regis in his final collegiate
game. He also forced 32 turnovers and saw time at midfield as
well as defense. During his 48-game career, Ryan tallied
seven goals and assisted on six others for 13 points and the 249
ground balls he picked up made him the program's all-time
leader.
