Men's Cross Country Places Two in Top 20 at Ron Ouellette Invitational

BIDDEFORD, Maine – Junior Jack Chausse (Newport, R.I.) and freshman Ryan Ballard (Norwalk, Conn.) each posted times of 29:42.3 as the Wentworth Institute of Technology men's cross country team competed at the Ron Ouellette Invitational Saturday morning at Rotary Park.

Ninety-eight student-athletes representing nine institutions competed in the first 8K race of the season as the Leopards posted a seventh-place finish with 151 points.

Chausse and Ballard were the 18th and 19th-place finishers, while freshman Jacob Thomas (Kingston, N.H.) was 34th with a time of 30:40.1. Finishing right behind him was junior William Carpenter (Salisbury, Vt.), who was 35th with a time of 30:41.1. Sophomore Christian Vallerand (Woburn, Mass.) rounded out Wentworth's top five runners, crossing the line in a time of 31:48.9 to finish 49th (45 points).

Freshman Evan McIntire (Mansfield, Mass.) was 51st (32:00.9), sophomore Donovan DiMaria (Dover, N.H.) finished 65th (33:26.6), sophomore Nick Whitcomb (Plymouth, Mass.) placed 80th (37:23.9) and sophomore Robbie McCue (Weymouth, Mass.) had a time of 39:16.0 to finish 86th.

The Leopards compete again next Saturday (September 17) at the Pop Crowell Invitational on the campus of Gordon College.
