Men's Cross Country Gears Up for Postseason at Suffolk Invitational

BOSTON, Mass. – The Wentworth Institute of Technology men's cross country team paced themselves well at the Suffolk Invitational as freshman Ryan Ballard led the Black and Gold again on the path with a 33rd place finish.

The event, which was comprised of 22 teams as well as independent racers, was run as an 8K race at Franklin Park. Wentworth finished 12th with a total of 305 points in the pool of 218 runners.

Ballard cracked the top-35 and led the Leopards with a time of 27:41.7 (26 points). Junior Jack Chausse (Newport, R.I.) nearly cracked the top-50, finishing in 51st just two seconds behind 50th with a 28:19.9 time (43 points). Junior William Carpenter (Salisbury, Vt.) finished in 86th with a time of 29:52.3 (69 points) while sophomore teammate Christian Vallerand (Woburn, Mass.) finished 98th with a time of 30:32.9 (80 points).

Sophomore Donovan DiMaria (Dover, N.H.) and junior Henry Walker finished back-to-back at 107th and 108th respectively. DiMaria had a time of 31:05.5 (88 points) while Walker finished 1.8 seconds behind his teammate (89 points). Sophomore Robbie McCue (Weymouth, Mass.) finished 175th, clocking a time of 36:35.3 (119 points).

Wentworth runs next at the Commonwealth Coast Conference Championship in Biddeford, Maine on October 29th.
