Women's Volleyball Remains Undefeated in Conference Play with Sweep over Nichols

BOSTON, Mass. – The Wentworth Institute of Technology women's volleyball team extended its win streak to 13 straight games, defeating Nichols College in straight sets on Saturday afternoon inside Tansey Gymnasium.

The Leopards, who remain at the top of the Commonwealth Coast Conference standings, stay undefeated against league opponents at 5-0, and improve to 19-2 overall. The Bison drop to 4-15 and 0-5 in the CCC.  

In its seventh straight-sets victory, Wentworth hit .385 as a team for the program's all-time highest attack percentage. The mark was previously set at .379 on October 2nd in a 3-0 win against Suffolk.

Junior Samantha Lassiter (Rogers, Ark.) and freshman Mary Zlotosch (Durham, N.H.) led the Leopard attack with eight kills apiece with .333 and .357 hitting, respectively. Six players swung into at least one service ace in the victory, led by freshman Jade Iadarola (Miami, Fla.), who had four in the match. Senior Lillie Clark (Vista, Calif.) chipped in with three herself, and currently leads the Leopards with 34 on the season. 

Defensively, nearly all players that saw time on the court contributed with at least one dig, while Iadarola led the effort with nine total. Junior libero Lexie Cambray (Bedford, N.H.) had five, followed by Clark's four. Junior Katie Clouse (Hudson Falls, N.Y.) served as the Leopards' primary setter, and dished out 21 assists.

Junior Megan Gardner (South Deerfield, Mass.) had a team-high four kills for the Bison while freshman Jayleen Fegan (Mansfield Center, Conn.) led the Bison defensively with 11 digs. Senior Zoe Chevrette (Wilbraham, Mass.) chipped in with 13 assists in the effort.

The Leopards host Western New England in a crucial conference match Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. for their next contest.
