Women's Volleyball Earns Team Academic Honors

BOSTON, Mass. – The Wentworth Institute of Technology women's volleyball team not only had a stellar season on the court during the 2019 season, it also excelled in the classroom as the Leopards were honored by the American Volleyball Coaches Association. The Leopards earned USMC/AVCA Team Academic honors, as announced by the AVCA.

A total of 1,313 teams across all three NCAA divisions (men's and women's), the NAIA (women's), junior colleges (women's), and high schools (girls') were recognized this year. This number of teams breaks the record for number of teams by nearly 200 and Wentworth was one of 232 teams to receive team academic honors for the first time.

The award, initiated in the 1992-93 academic year, honors volleyball teams that maintain a year-long grade-point average of 3.30 or higher on a 4.0 scale or 4.10 or higher on a 5.0 scale. The Leopards posted a 3.330 grade point average during the fall semester and a 3.651 grade point average during the spring semester.
