BEVERLY, Mass. – Two goals from sophomore Jason Kalinowski (Stamford, Conn.) and a goal and two assists from junior Logan Day (Seminole, Fla.) helped the Endicott College hockey team to a 4-1 win over Wentworth Institute of Technology in Commonwealth Coast Conference action at the Raymond J. Bourque Arena Saturday afternoon.

With the win the Gulls, ranked No. 10 in the D3Hockey.com Men's Poll and No. 12 in the USCHO.com Division III Poll, improve to 2-1 on the season after completing the weekend sweep while the Leopards fall to 0-4 (0-2).

The beginning to the game was déjà vu from Thursday night's contest as Endicott nearly took a 1-0 lead 1:49 into the contest when junior Thomas Daniels (St. Louis, Mo.) hit a shot off the right post.

Endicott had numerous scoring chances throughout the first period, however, senior Ryan Hubbard (West Roxbury, Mass.) kept the Gulls off the board. At the 15:14 mark, the hosts got on the board as Kalinowski scored off assists from junior Ross Olsson (Billerica, Mass.) and Day. That would be the lone goal of the opening frame as Endicott had an 11-10 shot advantage.

Wentworth evened the score at a goal apiece on a goal from senior Jake McDonough (Marshfield, Mass.). McDonough, who had just finished serving a penalty 11 seconds earlier, streaked down the ice with a freshman Jake Hallisey (Quincy, Mass.) and found the back of the net.

Kalinowski gave Endicott the lead for good 1:33 later when he scored from Day and Olsson and the Gulls carried a 2-1 lead into the third period.

At 7:19 of the third period, junior Daniel Kucerovy (Bethel Park, Pa.) scored from graduate student Connor Costello (Nottingham, N.H.) and junior Nicholas Petrella (Hilton, N.Y.) to make it 3-1. Kucerovy and senior Jack Musil (Skidby, England) set up Day at the 9:29 mark to make it 4-1 before an empty-net, shorthanded tally from Daniels with 50 seconds remaining rounded out the scoring.

Sophomore Justin Ketola (Esko, Minn.) made 27 saves for Endicott while Hubbard made 44 stops for Wentworth. The Gulls had a 49-28 shot advantage. Neither team was able to convert on 11 combined power plays.

Wentworth is at Johnson & Wales on Thursday night.
