Hockey Shatters Fundraising Goal For St. Baldrick's Foundation

BOSTON, Mass. – The Wentworth Institute of Technology men's hockey team hosted its annual St. Baldrick's Foundation fundraiser this past Saturday at The Greatest Bar in Boston, Mass.

Heading into the event, the Leopards set a goal to raise $10,000 for the foundation that would directly benefit childhood cancer research grants. After raising $6000 from last year's event, the team surpassed its goal, raising a grand total of $10,897, with more donations coming in.

A variety of Wentworth hockey players shaved their heads in honor of childhood cancer awareness, including sophomore co-organizer Liam McKay.

"Thanks to everyone who helped make this our most successful St. Baldrick's Fundraiser to date, [with] almost $11,000 raised for childhood cancer research grants," said McKay. "Special thanks to Adam Tracey, Emile Levesque and Cam McLennan for organizing it."

In addition to the men's hockey players, Faculty Athletic Representative Jack Duggan and Director of Athletics Cheryl Aaron shaved their heads in support of the cause.
