MILTON, Mass. – Four goals and four assists from sophomore Devin Newell (Medford, Mass.) helped the Curry College men's lacrosse team score 21 straight goals as the Colonels defeated Wentworth Institute of Technology, 23-2, in a Commonwealth Coast Conference contest played at Walter M. Katz Field.

With the win the Colonels improve to 7-5 overall and 3-2 in league play while the Leopards fall to 5-6 overall and 1-4 in the CCC.

Just 34 seconds into the contest Wentworth took a 1-0 lead on a junior Kevin Butler (Jefferson, Mass.) goal. After Curry scored the next two goals to take a 2-1 lead, sophomore Jason Buck (Manlius, N.Y.) found freshman Riley Smith (Plaistow, N.H.) to even the score at 2-all.

From there Curry scored three goals over the final 5:04 of the first quarter and scored eight times in the second quarter to take a 13-2 lead at the break. The Colonels added to their lead with a five-goal third quarter and would score five more times in the fourth.

Junior Tom Cashin (Boxford, Mass.) also had four goals for Curry, which had nine players record multiple-point games. Sophomore Zach White (Milford, Conn.), who was 22-of-27 at the X, scooped up 13 ground balls.

Butler and Smith tallied for the Black & Gold while senior Sean Farmer (Billerica, Mass.) and sophomore Sean Brennan (Stony Point, N.Y.) each had four ground balls.

Senior Shane O'Brien (East Falmouth, Mass.) made 13 saves in 57:58. Sophomore Josh Teller (Milford, Conn.) made one save over the final 2:02. Junior Adam Dufault (Lexington, mass.) made 12 saves in 45 minutes of action. Junior Scott Boucher (Salisbury, N.H.) made one save in the fourth quarter. Curry had a 53-25 shot advantage and a 42-18 edge in ground balls.

Wentworth is at the University of New England Tuesday.
