Men's Tennis Doubles up Curry

MILTON, Mass. – Paced by a sweep of doubles play and taking three out of six singles matches, the Wentworth Institute of Technology men's tennis team doubled up Curry, 6-3, in a Commonwealth Coast Conference match played at the Big Nine Courts.

With the win the Leopards snap a six-match losing streak and improve to 3-7 overall (2-4 CCC) while the Colonels fall to 5-9 (1-5).

Junior Seng Ly (Lynn, Mass.) and senior Zach Peter (Preston, Conn.) gave Wentworth a 1-0 lead an 8-5 win at No. 2 doubles over Curry's tandem of Ryan Sullivan (Winnetka, Ill.) and Richie Hefler (Canton, Conn.). At No. 1 doubles, Senior Matthew Smith (Pelham, N.H.) and junior Jeff Tocco (Plymouth, Mass.) edged Aidan Roach (Norwell, Mass.) and Dawson Stento (Wellesley Hills, Mass.), 9-7. The Leopards completed the doubles sweep with a 9-8 win at No. 3 by senior Thinh Dang (Boston, Mass.) and freshman Alex Mularski (Auburn, Mass.) as they topped the Colonels pair of Ben Higgins (Yarmouth, Maine) and Zach Muller (Methuen, Mass.)

At No.1 singles, the Colonels got on the board as Roach defeated Smith, 6-2, 6-1. Peter made it 4-1 with a 6-0, 6-2 win over Hefler before Sullivan cut the lead in half with a 6-3, 6-1 win over Tocco. At No. 2. Dang clinched the match for the Black & Gold with a 6-3, 6-1 win at No. 5 and Ly had a 3-6, 6-2, 10-5 win over Stento. Higgins defeated Mularski at No. 6, 7-5, 6-4.

Wentworth hosts Western new England on Saturday at 6:30 p.m.
