McSolla Selected for Second Straight NCAA Indoor Track Championship

BOSTON, Mass. – For the second consecutive season, Dan McSolla (Bridgewater, Mass.) of the Wentworth Institute of Technology indoor track team has qualified for the NCAA Division III Men's Indoor Track & Field Championships. The event will be held at the Birmingham CrossPlex in Birmingham, Alabama, on March 9-10.

McSolla ran a personal best in the mile of 4:08.13 in the mile at the Boston University Last Chance Meet on February 25, which bested his previous mark by 0.50 seconds and jumped him from the 19th-fastest time in Division III to the seventh-fastest and, in the 15-runner field, he has the sixth-fastest time. For each men's individual event contested, including the heptathlon, the top 15 declared student-athletes were accepted into the competition, while for each relay event contested, the top 12 declared relay teams, one per institution, were accepted into the competition.

The preliminaries for the mile will be contested on Friday, March 9, at 2:35 p.m. Central Time (3:35 p.m. Eastern Time). The top 10 runners will advance to Saturday's finals, which will be run at 2:50 p.m. Central Time (3:50 p.m. Eastern Time). The top eight finishers in the finals will earn All-America honors.

A season ago, McSolla ran 4:13.27 in the preliminaries which tied him for fifth overall. He earned All-America honors the following day with an eighth-place finish of 4:10.20, which was 0.01 seconds ahead of the ninth-place finisher.

No stranger to NCAA competition, McSolla, a four-time All-Commonwealth Coast Conference honoree in cross country, also qualified for the 2016 NCAA Division III Men's Cross Country Championships.
