BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Senior Dan McSolla (Bridgewater, Mass.) of the Wentworth Institute of Technology indoor track team wrapped up his stellar career by competing in the mile at the 2018 NCAA Division III Championships at the Birmingham CrossPlex.
McSolla, who was making his second straight appearance at nationals – in just the program's second season of varsity existence – ran in the first heat where his time of 4:14.42 placed him fifth among eight runners. With the top three times from each heat and next four fastest times advancing to Saturday's final, McSolla's time narrowly missed qualifying by 0.73 seconds and was his third-fastest time of the season.
An All-American at the 2017 NCAA Championships, McSolla was also a four-time All-Commonwealth Coast Conference performer in cross country, helping the team win the last three CCC Championships. In 2016 he became the first Leopard cross country runner to qualify for the NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships.
