SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – After winning its second straight Tri-State Invitational title, two members of the Wentworth Institute of Technology cross country team have been honored by the Commonwealth Coast Conference for their individual performances. Sophomore Patrick Hopkins (Lansdale, Pa.) was named the CCC Runner of the Week while freshman Jonah Eisman (New York, N.Y.) earned CCC Rookie of the Week honors for a second time this season.
Hopkins held the Leopards to the team title by finishing first among the 103-runner field, crossing the finish line in a time of 27:02. It was his second straight top-five finish as he was second at the Pop Crowell Invitational on Sept. 26.
Eisman was the first freshman to cross the finish line, covering the eight-kilometer course in 28:36 which placed him 12th in the field. It marked the second straight week the rookie had finished 12th.
Wentworth returns to action on Friday, October 16, at the Saints Invitational in Boston's Franklin Park.
