Robbins, Cross Country Team Honored by USTFCCCA

BOSTON, Mass. – Sophomore Alex Robbins (Mansfield, Mass.) of the Wentworth Institute of Technology cross country team was honored by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association as a Division III All-Academic selection for the 2015 season. Additionally, the Leopards were also honored as a team as the Black & Gold were one of 151 NCAA Division III teams with a cumulative grade point average of 3.1 or higher.

A two-time All-Commonwealth Coast Conference selection, Robbins had five top-10 finishes in seven events, including placing third out of 104 runners with a time of 26:57 at the Pop Crowell Invitational. He posted his fastest time of the season (26:15.7) at the NCAA Regionals where he placed 83rd out of a 380-runner field. A Computer Science major, he finished fourth at the Commonwealth Coast Conference championships, helping his squad capture the conference championship.

In just its second season as a varsity program, the Leopards finished had a solid run of four straight events where they tied for first once and won three consecutive events outright, which included the CCC title where Wentworth ended Roger Williams' run of 14 consecutive conference championships. As a team the Leopards have a team grade point average of 3.223 through the fall, 2015 semester.
