Women's Volleyball Seeded Fourth in CCC Tournament

BOSTON, Mass. – After setting program records for overall wins (24) and conference wins (six), the Wentworth Institute of Technology women's volleyball team will host a Commonwealth Coast Conference Tournament match. Seeded fourth for the second consecutive season, the Leopards will host fifth-seeded Western New England in a quarterfinal round contest Tuesday (October 31) at 7:00 p.m.

The Leopards earn the number four seed after posting a 6-3 record in conference play (24-4 overall), while the Golden Bears claimed the number five seed with a 5-4 league record (16-13 overall). Wentworth finished tied with Salve Regina for third place in the league standings, however, by virtue of the Seahawks' 3-1 win last Saturday, Salve Regina wins the head-to-head tiebreaker.

In the three remaining quarterfinal round matches, top-seeded Roger Williams (18-6, 9-0) will host eighth-seeded Curry (11-17, 2-7), second-seeded Endicott will square off against seventh-seeded Gordon (15-12, 4-5), and third-seeded Salve Regina (16-11, 6-3) hosts sixth-seeded University of New England (11-14, 4-5). UNE and Gordon finished tied for sixth, however the Nor'Easters won the regular-season meeting between the two teams to win the tiebreaker. All four quarterfinals have 7:00 p.m. start times.

The four quarterfinal winners advance to Thursday's (November 2) semifinal round where the top two remaining seeds will host. The two semifinal winners will square off in the conference championship match on Saturday (November 4). The CCC Champion receives an automatic berth into the NCAA Division III Tournament.

Tuesday's meeting will be the 22nd meeting between the two programs since the 1996 season. Western New England holds a 15-6 series advantage, however, Wentworth took a 3-1 decision on September 23 of this year. That win snapped a 14-match series losing streak for the Leopards. This will mark the first time the two will meet in the postseason.
