SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Two members of the Wentworth baseball team have earned weekly honors from The Commonwealth Coast Conference as sophomore pitcher Alex Wong (Lewiston, Maine) was named TCCC Pitcher of the Week while junior pitcher Nick Colanto (Beverly, Mass.) earned TCCC Rookie of the Week honors.

Both players earned honors after their complete-game victories against Nichols on April 18.  Wong allowed one run on seven hits while matching a career high with seven strikeouts in a 3-1 win over the Bison.  Colanto completed the sweep by allowing one run on three hits and striking out a pair in a 4-1 win.

In six appearances (all starts) Wong is 3-1 with a 4.21 earned run average and a pair of shutouts.  He has won his last three starts – all complete-game victories – and has struck out 28 batters in 36.1 innings of work.

Colanto is in his first year playing for the Leopards and is 4-0 with a 3.48 earned run average in six appearances (four starts).  He has struck out 31 batters in 31 innings, while walking just 14.

Wentworth is 21-10 overall and 13-5 in TCCC play.  The Leopards play at New England College tomorrow.
