Harvey, Lewis Earn Weekly Honors

BOSTON, Mass. – Two of Wentworth's spring student-athletes had outstanding weeks for the Leopards and were recently honored at both the conference and regional level.  Senior softball player Lizz Harvey (McConnellsburg, Pa.) was named both The Commonwealth Coast Conference and ECAC New England Player of the Week, while freshman Ben Lewis (Middletown, R.I.) of the baseball team became the second straight Leopard to earn TCCC Rookie of the Week honors.

Harvey enjoyed a fine individual week for the Leopards, while competing at the Fastpitch Dreams Spring Classic in Surfside Beach, S.C.  She went 11-for-15 (.733) from the plate with two doubles, two home runs, six runs scored, and three runs batted in.  She hit safely in six of seven games, drove in three of Wentworth's nine runs, and scored the other six herself. Her success earned her a spot on the Fastpitch Dreams Spring Classic All-Tournament team.

Lewis helped the baseball team to a 4-3 week at the RussMatt Baseball Central Florida Invitational, while playing a role in two of the team's four wins.  On the week he was 1-0 with a 1.12 earned run average in two appearances.  He allowed just one earned run in 6-2/3 innings, but did not factor in the decision in Wentworth's 6-4, 10-inning victory over Drew. He scattered seven hits and two walks, while striking out two in his first collegiate start. Lewis picked up his first collegiate win in relief as he hurled 1-1/3 scoreless innings in a 9-8 victory over Fitchburg State. He allowed just two hits, while striking out four and walking none.
