Elrick, Rexford Earn Weekly CCC Honors

BOSTON, Mass. – After completing its annual spring break trip with a 4-4 record, two members of the Wentworth Institute of Technology baseball team have been honored by the Commonwealth Coast Conference with weekly honors. Senior outfielder Tim Elrick (Plymouth, Mass.) and junior pitcher Ben Rexford (Lancaster, N.H.) have been named the league's player and pitcher of the week, respectively. The duo was recognized for games played from March 5-11.

Elrick batted .600 on the week (12-for-20) with four runs scored, eight runs batted in, and an on-base percentage of .667. Elrick collected four multiple-hit games, including a pair of 3-for-3 performances in wins over SUNY Poly and Anna Maria.  He did not strike out in 27 plate appearances while he also reached base or drove in a run in each of Wentworth's eight games.

After missing the 2017 campaign due to an injury, Rexford enjoyed a strong start to his junior season by recording a 1-0 record with a 0.00 earned run average and eight strikeouts in a pair of relief appearances. His win was in a 5-3 triumph over SUNY Poly where he entered the game in the bottom of the fourth inning with runners on first and third and one out and proceeded to get a strikeout and a ground out to end the threat. Earlier in the week he allowed an unearned run and struck out a batter in an inning in a loss to John Carroll.

With both of the Leopards' games this week postponed due to the impending snowstorm, Wentworth hopes to open the northern portion of its schedule on Sunday at Brandeis.
