French Named CCC Rookie of the Week

BOSTON, Mass. – After helping the Wentworth Institute of Technology baseball team post a 3-1 record last week, freshman Aidan French (Chicago, Ill.) has earned Commonwealth Coast Conference Rookie of the Week honors. French's recognition comes for games played from April 16-22.

French batted .545 (6-for-11) with one double, four runs scored, two stolen bases, and three RBI. He also reached base by way of walk or hit by pitch in four other plate appearances. He was 3-for-7 with a double and two RBI in a split against Nichols, including going 2-for-3 with a run scored and an RBI in a 9-7, eight-inning win. French followed that up by going 3-for-4 with four runs scored and a pair of stolen bases in a sweep of Western New England. The Leopards used a pair of come-from-behind, 6-5 wins to sweep the Golden Bears for the first time in program history.

Through 23 games French is batting .316 (24-for-76) with three doubles, eight stolen bases, 20 runs scored, and seven runs batted in. He also has an on-base percentage of .411.

Winners of three straight, Wentworth (10-13, 5-7 CCC) is at Babson on Tuesday.
