HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • The teams traded baskets to open the contest with senior Kyle Henseler (Coventry, R.I.) opening the game with a layup and, after a jumper from junior Nick Johnson (Athens, Ga.) hit a jumper tied the game, junior Tommy Dooling (Attleboro, Mass.) knocked down a three which put Wentworth ahead, 5-2. However, a three-point play 22 seconds later evened the score at 5-all.
  • Using an 8-0 run, Wentworth took a 13-5 lead, capped off by a fast-break layup from junior Jack Schaake (Hampton, N.H.). Schaake had a three-point play to start the run with a three pointer from Carrier adding to it. The Colonels cut the lead to three on a basket from junior Michael August (Stratford, Conn.) but six straight points from the Black & Gold gave the hosts a 20-11 lead after senior Kyle Henseler (Coventry, R.I.) knocked down a three.
  • Wentworth upped its lead to 11, thanks to a freshman Jack Connell (Walpole, Mass.) three with 9:48 left in the half, however, Curry closed the gap to four just over three minutes later on a basket from August. Dooling answered with five straight points to make it a nine-point game and, after a Johnson three, junior Sam Swift (Arlington, Mass.) buried back-to-back shots from behind the arc, giving the Leopards a 36-24 lead with 1:36 left. The hosts led, 38-29, at the break.
  • The Leopards opened the second half on a 18-4 run and took a 23-point lead (56-33) when junior Conor Rubenskas (Bridgewater, Mass.) knocked down a three pointer. A Dooling three with 5:38 left gave Wentworth its largest lead of the game (70-39).
  • In addition to his 15 points and 18 rebounds, Carrier had four assists and three steals. Dooling went 5-for-8 from the floor, including going 3-for-5 from behind the arc, for 13 points, while Schaake had nine points, five rebounds, and three assists.
