Golf Makes Cut at CCC Qualifier

OLD ORCHARD BEACH, Maine – Senior Brandon Goold (Foxboro, Mass.) shot a seven-over 79 and finished in a tie for sixth to help the Wentworth Institute of Technology golf team shoot a 331 at the Commonwealth Coast Conference Championship Qualifier, played at the Par 72, 6,644-yard Dunegrass Golf Club.

The Leopards' 331 placed them fourth – just one stroke ahead of host University of New England – and earned the Black & Gold a spot in the CCC Championship this spring. The two-day championship event will be held Saturday-Sunday, April 25-26, and will be hosted by defending champion Endicott College which finished first with a 308. Western New England (322) and Nichols (325) finished second and third, respectively.

Goold shot an even par 36 on the front nine and was only one of three players to do so, including medalist Austin Teal from Endicott who would shoot a 73 on the day.

Junior Brad Tyler (San Diego, Calif.) carded an 82 to finish tied for 11th, senior Dante Christofori (Springfield, Mass.) finished tied for 18th with an 84, and freshman Enrique Arrieche (Caracas, Venezuela) rounded out Wentworth's scorers with an 86, tying him for 26th.

Senior Pat Sullivan (Needham, Mass.) shot an 88 on the day, which tied him for 26th in the 34-golfer field.

Wentworth resumes action on Tuesday, September 30 when the Leopards will participate in the Westfield State Invitational.
