WESTFIELD, Mass. – Junior Brian Bak (South Hadley, Mass.) carded a four-over 75 to finish tied for fifth and help the Wentworth Institute of Technology golf team to a third-place finish at the 2017 Westfield State Invitational. The event was held at the par-71, 6,438-yard Tekoa Country Club.
The Leopards shot a season-best 307 as a team. Westfield State took first with a 295 while Roger Williams was second with a 305.
Sophomore Matthew Pleshaw (Franklin, Mass.) recorded a top-10 finish as he shot a 77 to tie for ninth. He was joined by freshman Sancho Rodriguez (San Roque, Spain) who also carded a 77 in his collegiate debut. Senior Paul Arsenault (Middleton, Mass.) finished tied for 14th as he finished with a 78.
Sophomore Sean L'Italien (Pembroke, Mass.) finished tied for 34th among the 66-payer field with an 84.
Wentworth will next compete at the Commonwealth Coast Conference Qualifier next Thursday (October 5) at Montaup Country Club.
