Golf Opens Spring Season at RIC Spring Invitational

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Wentworth Institute of Technology golf team kicked off the spring portion of its schedule at the 2018 RIC Spring Invitational. The tournament, which was shortened to one round due to Friday's inclement weather, was played at the par 72, 6,502-yard Valley Country Club.

Wentworth finished tied for 10th with a 331. The host Anchormen won the event with a 305, followed by Babson (307) and Roger Williams (314). Babson's Chris Bornhorst took home medalist honors as he shot a one-over 73 on the day.

Senior Paul Arsenault (Middleton, Mass.) was the Leopards' low score as he shot an 81 to finish tied for 29th. Classmate Enrique Arrieche (Caracas, Venezuela) and sophomore Matthew Pleshaw (Franklin, Mass.) were one shot behind Arsenault, as both carded an 82 to tie for 34th. Sophomore Sean L'Italien (Pembroke, Mass.) tied for 57th with an 86 to round out Wentworth's four countable scores at the event. Freshman Sancho Rodriguez (San Roque, Spain) was 61st with an 87.

Wentworth will compete at the Hampton Inn Invitational, hosted by UMass Dartmouth, this weekend (April 13-14).
