Robbins Named To CoSIDA Academic All-District Team

BOSTON, Mass. –  Wentworth Institute of Technology senior Alex Robbins (Mansfield, Mass.) has been named to the 2018 Google Cloud Academic All-District® Men's Track & Field/Cross Country team, selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) as announced on Monday afternoon.

The 2018 Google Cloud Academic All-District® team recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. Robbins joins an elite group of Wentworth scholar-athletes, and becomes the 27th Leopard to achieve Academic All-District status.

Robbins, a four-time All-Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) selection, earns the tremendous honor with a 3.91 GPA in Computer Science. Robbins is a member of Chi Alpha Sigma, the national student-athlete honor society, and is a three-time honoree for both Academic All-CCC and USTFCCCA All-Academic.

In just four years as a varsity program, Robbins stood among the top finishers for the Leopards cross country/track and field team, and led Wentworth to three CCC cross country Championships. Robbins placed second in the 2017 conference championship and was additionally named as the conference's senior scholar-athlete. Robbins later qualified for the 2017 NCAA Cross Country Championships with a 25:43 finish in the 8K race in the New England Regional, and ran his third-fastest race on the national stage in Elsah, Ill., placing 143rd overall. His stellar 2017 campaign also earned him a spot on the 2017 USTFCAA NCAA Division III All-Region Team.

Robbins advances to the Google Cloud Academic All-America® ballot, with first- and second-team Academic All-America® honorees to be announced in June.

The Google Cloud Academic All-District® teams include the student-athletes listed here for baseball and softball, and are divided into eight geographic districts across the United States and Canada. The Google Cloud Academic All-America® program separately recognizes honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and College Division. The College Division includes all NAIA, Canadian, two-year schools and other affiliations.
