Women's Volleyball Defeated by Endicott

BEVERLY, Mass. – The Endicott women's volleyball team earned an important 3-0 (25-11, 25-20, 25-17) victory over CCC opponent Wentworth on Thursday evening, pulling into a tie with Salve Regina for second place in the conference standings heading into Saturday's showdown with the Seahawks.

The Gulls (13-14, 6-1 CCC) travel down to Newport, R.I. on Saturday, October 29th for a 1:00 pm match against Salve Regina to determine the #2 seed going into the upcoming CCC Tournament.  Wentworth (13-14, 2-5 CCC) has already clinched the final playoff spot and will host Curry in CCC action on Saturday at 1:00 pm as well. After wrapping the regular season up against Curry on Saturday, the Leopards will travel to the loser of the Endicott/Salve Regina match in the first round of the CCC Tournament on Tuesday night.

Senior Sarah Allshouse (Berthoud, Colo.) finished with 34 assists, 10 digs, and two blocks at the net, while classmate Elyse Barbour (Greenville, R.I.) struck 10 kills with .364 hit percentage while making four assisted blocks and serving up two aces. Both were playing in their final regular-season home match for the Gulls.

Gulls sophomore Callie Dolan (Westford, Mass.) had a match-high 11 kills with just two errors while contributing with two block assists and three digs.  Dolan also had two aces.  Hannah Dahlgren (Queensbury, N.Y.) and Carly Beers (Traverse City, Mich.) also had a solid effort on the attack with eight and five kills, respectively.

The Wentworth attack was led by senior middle hitter Julie Bruton (Montgomery, Texas) who registered a team-high seven kills on 22 attempts with just two errors.  Bruton was also a factor defensively as she and teammate Sam Curran (Quincy, Mass.) each tied for a match-high 13 digs.

Leopards outside hitters Julie Rahilly (Nashua, N.H.) and Michelle Hobbs (Northwood, N.H.) each added four kills apiece in the loss.

Endicott was especially effective on the serve as the team totaled 13 aces in the match.  Six different players recorded an ace with freshman Emily Gillich (Clifton Park, N.Y.) recording a team-high four and junior Falyn Torelli (Pelham, N.Y.) adding three more.  In two sets played, Gillich also had nine digs.

Gulls libero Ashley Norley (Sudbury, Mass.) led Endicott with 12 digs.  Freshman Jessica Petrucci (Cape Coral, Fla.) had four digs in her third set appearance.
