BOSTON, Mass. – Playing in her final collegiate home game, senior Julie Bruton (Montgomery, Texas) recorded 12 kills and hit .375 as the Wentworth women's volleyball team tied the program record for wins in a season with a 3-0 win over Curry.

After the Colonels scored the opening point of the match the Leopards responded by scoring the next five points and took a 5-2 lead. Curry battled back and pulled within a point three times, including ay 11-10. However, Wentworth scored nine of the next 10 points – including runs of 4-0 and 5-0 – to take a 20-11 lead, en route to a 25-13 win.

Curry opened the second set with a 3-0 spurt before the Leopards took a 4-3 lead. The Colonels held leads of 5-4 and 7-6 before a 5-1 Wentworth lead gave the hosts the lead for good at 11-8. Despite scoring the next two points to close the gap to 11-10, Curry wasn't able to get any closer as an 11-4 Leopard run separated the teams. Wentworth took the second set by a 25-17 score.

As was the case in the first two sets, the Black & Gold had to battle back from an early deficit in the third set as Wentworth trailed 3-1. A 7-1 run by the Leopards made it an 8-4 game, a lead which was extended to 14-7. Curry battled back to pull within three at 15-12, but the Leopards completed the sweep with a 25-16 win.

Sophomore Michelle Hobbs (Northwood, N.H.) added nine kills, two aces and nine digs, while junior Julie Rahilly (Nashua, N.H.) chipped in with eight kills and five digs. Freshman Sam Curran (Quincy, Mass.) had three aces and 10 digs and classmate Shannon Ponce (San Jose, Calif.) added 26 assists.

Freshman Courtney DiBiasio (Coventry, R.I.) led the Colonels with six kills and nine digs. Junior Kaitlyn Poirier (Acushnet, Mass.) had seven digs and three blocks, while sophomore Tyla Miller (Marshfield, Mass.) added seven digs of her own.

With the win Wentworth evens its record at 14-14, tying the program record for wins which was set in 2005. The Leopards finished CCC play at 3-5 and will be making their first CCC Tournament appearance since 2006 on Tuesday night, traveling to third-seeded Salve Regina. Curry finished its season at 4-19 (0-8).
