Coakley, Cushera to Play in NEILA Senior All-Star Game

BOSTON, Mass. – Two members of the Wentworth Institute of Technology men's lacrosse team have been selected to play in the 2015 New England Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association East-West Senior All-Star Game, which will be played on Friday, May 29, at 7:00 p.m., at Springfield College.

The annual game, which features 52 senior student-athletes over all three divisions and among 11 conferences, gives graduating seniors one last chance to represent their school on the lacrosse field while being honored for their contributions over the course of their career. Wentworth will be represented by Ryan Coakley (Flemington, N.J.) and Michael Cushera (Waltham, Mass.).

Coakley, the program's all-time scoring leader earned Second Team All-CCC honors for the second time in three seasons after posting a program record 81 points (50 goals, 31 assists). Twelve of Coakley's 50 goals came during man-up situations and he had career highs of 11 points in a 19-10 win over Lasell on April 18, which included matching his career high of six goals which he set in the Leopards' 16-10 win over Curry on March 28. He has recorded multiple points in every one of Wentworth's games this season. For his career he is the only player in program history to score over 200 points as he has 99 goals and a program-best 117 assists in 50 games as a Leopard. His 99 goals rank him third on the program's all-time list as do his 17 man-up goals.

Cushera, who earned All-CCC accolades as a sophomore, enjoyed the finest offensive season of his career as he tallied 30 goals and assisted on 16 others for 46 points. Five of his goals came during man-up situations and he had a career-high four goals in an 11-10 win at the University of New England on March 25. He recorded multiple points in 12 games, including matching a career-best six in an 11-9 loss at MIT on March 17. Wentworth's all-time leader in games played (64), he scored 83 goals and assisted on 51 others for 134 career points, with 19 of his goals coming on man-up situations. He ranks second all-time on the program's list for man-up goals, is fifth for assists, is tied for fifth in points, and is eighth in goals scored.

These two student-athletes become the fourth and fifth players in program history to play in this prestigious game, joining Mark Castela (1999), Chris Wesche (2009), and Jared Proulx (2014.)

Wentworth finished the 2015 season with a 9-8 record.
