WINTHROP, Mass. – Freshman setter Augusto Rodriguez-Guerrios (Guayanbo, P.R.) of the Wentworth Institute of Technology men's volleyball team has been named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Rookie of the Week. Rodriguez-Guerrios earns the honor for matches played from Feb. 13-19.
Rodriguez played in two of the Leopards' three matches last week, helping the Black & Gold to a 2-0 record in those matches. He averaged 9.67 assists and 1.60 digs per set. He had 29 helpers in three sets in a 3-1, conference-opening win over Johnson & Wales and added 16 in a 3-0 win over Newbury.
Playing in six matches (19 sets), Rodriguez-Guerrios is averaging 5.84 assists and 1.11 digs per set.
Wentworth, ranked No. 5 in the latest AVCA Division III Men's Poll, is 9-3 overall and 1-0 in GNAC play. The Leopards host Emmanuel on Wednesday night.
