Former Leopards Enjoying Success in England

BOSTON, Mass. – Two former Wentworth men's basketball players who both earned conference rookie of the year and player of the year honors, as well as helping to lead the Leopards to the 2007 Commonwealth Coast Conference Championship, have brought their talents overseas and have both picked up right where their collegiate careers left off.

 

Backcourt mates Sherrad Prezzie-Blue '08 and Todd Doyle '09 are both competing in England professional leagues with Prezzie-Blue recently signing on for his second season with the Worthing Thunder of the British Basketball League and Doyle having begun his first season with the Leicester Warriors of the English Basketball League.

 

Prior to joining Worthing a year ago, Prezzie-Blue played a season for the Northampton Neptunes of the English Basketball League.  In his first year with the Thunder, he averaged 13.9 points per game and 1.8 assists per game while shooting 57.4 percent from the floor, including 45.2 percent from behind the three-point arc.  In two games this season he is averaging 20.5 points, 3.0 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and 2.5 steals per game while shooting 58.8 percent from the floor.

 

As a four-year member of the Leopard men's basketball team Prezzie-Blue amassed 1,781 points (17.1 ppg), while averaging 3.1 rebounds, 2.8 assists, and 1.6 steals. From the floor he shot 47.9 percent, including nearly 41 percent from behind the three-point arc, and 78.8 percent from the charity stripe. His 195 three pointers made are the most in the program's history, while he ranks second all-time in scoring.  He was the league's rookie of the year in 2005 and, after averaging 19.8 points per game and shooting 54.6 percent from the floor as a junior, he was named the league's player of the year.

 

Doyle is off to an impressive start with the Warriors, averaging 30.5 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 2.5 assists per game.  In his very first game, while playing in the EBL National Trophy Tournament, he connected on 14 of 22 shots from the floor and 11 of 12 shots from the charity stripe for a 42-point night, while adding five assists.

 

While wearing the Black & Gold, Doyle scored 1,504 points (15.0 per game) and averaged 3.2 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and 1.2 steals while shooting 48.2 percent from the floor, including 44.8 percent from three-point land.  He also ranks among the program's leaders in three pointers made (135), assists (251), and steals (117).  He was conference rookie of the year in 2006 and earned conference player of the year honors as a senior after averaging 20.3 points and shooting 50.5 percent from the floor.  That season he also finished second among NCAA Division III men's basketball players after she shot an impressive 92.6 percent (100-for-108) from the free throw line.
