Wentworth Rolls to Fifth Straight Win, 64-46

BOSTON, Mass. – Junior guard Adam Dombrowski (Dunstable, Mass.) scored 20 points, grabbed seven rebounds, and had four assists, while senior backcourt mate Keenan Burke-Pitts (Auburn, Mass.) added 16 points, six rebounds, three assists and three steals as the Wentworth men's basketball team won its fifth straight game with a 64-46 win over Roger Williams in a The Commonwealth Coast Conference men's basketball game played at Tansey Gymnasium.

The Leopards came out of the gates firing, using an early, 13-2 run to take a 17-6 lead after a sophomore forward Corey Therriault (Auburn, Maine) three pointer with 12:05 left in the half.  Leading by 11 (19-8), the hosts upped their lead to 25-8 after Dombrowski buried back-to-back trifectas.  Wentworth would lead by as much as 23 with 4:50 remaining on a senior forward Sam Herrick (Duxbury, Mass.) dunk and held a 39-21 lead at the break.  Over the course of the first 20:00, the Leopards held the Hawks to 33.3 percent shooting from the floor, while connecting on 46.9 percent of their shots – including going 6-for-9 from behind the arc.

Dombrowski, Herrick, and Therriault combined to score the first six points of the second half, upping the lead to 24 before Roger Williams outscored Wentworth by a 16-5 margin over the next 11 minutes to cut the lead to 13 on one of two free throws from senior forward Taylor Petruccelli (Stratford, Conn.).  However, the Leopards countered by scoring the next seven points, capped off by a Dombrowski layup on the fast break, to take a 57-37 lead with 3:32 to play.

Roger Williams went on a 7-0 run to trim the lead back down to 13, after Petruccelli hit two free throws and sophomore guard James LeCardi (Fair Haven, N.J.) scored five straight points.  However, that would be as close as the visitors would get.

Dombrowski connected on 6-of-11 shots from the floor, including going 3-for-5 from behind the arc, while Burke-Pitts was 6-for-13.  Herrick finished the game with his third straight double-double, scoring 13 points and hauling down 13 rebounds.  Thirty-six of Wentworth's 64 points came off of 22 Roger Williams turnovers and the Leopards held an opponent to fewer than 50 points for the fourth time this season.

Sophomore guard Mike Engemann (Red Bank, N.J.) scored 13 points for the Hawks, including going 3-for-5 from three-point land.  Petruccelli grabbed 10 rebounds, while junior forward Pat Flanagan (Somerville, Mass.) blocked three shots.

With the win Wentworth improves to 8-6 on the year and remains undefeated (3-0) in TCCC play.  The Leopards are at Western New England on Wednesday.  Roger Williams sees its four-game win streak come to an end, falling to 10-5 (2-1).  The Hawks at are Gordon on Wednesday
