BOSTON, Mass. – Coming off the program's first Commonwealth Coast Conference championship and first appearance in the NCAA Division III Tournament, four members of the Wentworth Institute of Technology women's soccer team will be extending their season by one more game as the quartet has been selected to play in the 2016 New England Women's Intercollegiate Soccer Association Senior Bowl.
Mary Pastorelli (Whitesboro, N.Y.), Mary Annon (Concord, N.H.), Morgan Miller (Schenectady, N.Y.), and Mykaela Scarpace (Marlborough, Conn.) will play in the annual event which will be held on Saturday, December 3, at Merrimack College.
Two of the four received the highest point total at their position as Pastorelli led all defenders and Miller led all midfielders. Additionally, Miller was the overall leading vote getter among the 22 Division III players selected.
The two-time CCC Defensive Player of the Year, Pastorelli helped the Leopards hold opponents to 14 goals in 23 contests and a 0.59 goas against average to go along with 14 shutouts. Pastorelli was also a factor in Wentworth's offense, scoring three goals and three assists for nine points. For her career she started 74 of the 82 games in which she played and in addition to anchoring the defense, had seven goals and five assists for 19 career points.
Annon played both defender and forward this past season, starting 15 of the 22 games in which she played. She had a pair of goals and five assists for nine points and was named Second Team All-CCC. For her career she started 73 of the 81 contests in which she played, scoring 13 goals and assisting on 18 others for 44 points. Her 18 assists tie her for fifth in program history.
Miller's versatility at the midfield position throughout her career earned her All-CCC honors all four years. Defensively she helped the Leopards post the two lowest goals against averages in program history and also created numerous offensive chances for her teammates. On the offensive side, she scored four goals and three assists for a career-best 11 points on the season. The all-time leader in games played (87) and games started (85), Miller scored 21 career points which came on seven goals and seven assists.
Scarpace started 13 of the 22 games in which she played this season and scored three goals and assisted on four others for 10 points. She concluded her career by playing the second-most games in program history (85) where she made 47 starts. Scarpace scored 14 goals and assisted on 11 others for 39 career points.
Wentworth finished the season with a 16-4-3 record. After defeating Gordon, 4-0, in the CCC title game, the Leopards defeated Arcadia, 1-0, in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament before falling to Williams, 1-0.
