BOSTON, Mass. – The Wentworth golf team began the 2012-13 campaign by shooting a 320 at the Commonwealth Coast Conference Qualifier, played at the par 72, 6,433-yard Veterans Golf Course in Springfield, Mass. The 320 placed the Leopards fourth and earns them a spot in the conference championship, which will be a two-day event to be held in late April.
Junior Eric Anderson (Abington, Mass.) led the Leopards with a 77, placing him in a three-way tie for seventh place among the 30 golfers in the field. Anderson's 77 was just two strokes off the lead.
Sophomores Robbie Wells Rogers (Colchester, Vt.) and Dante Christofori (Springfield, Mass.) finished in a six-way tie for 13th, carding a seven-over 79 on the day.
Seniors John Romanelli (Acushnet, Mass.) and Anthony Principato (Holmdel, N.J.) finished in a three-way tie for 23rd as both shot an 85.
Wentworth is back in action on Monday, October 1, as the Leopards will travel to Putterham Golf Course in neighboring Brookline to face Newbury in the Leopards' lone dual match of the fall season.
