Golf Competes in Storm-Shortened NEIGA Championship

BREWSTER, Mass. – The Wentworth golf team concluded its fall season by competing in the 78th Annual New England Intercollegiate Golf Association Championship. Due to the impending threat of Hurricane Sandy, the Championship has been shortened from 36 holes to an 18-hole event and an overall champion was not crowned; rather team championships were won in Division I, Division II, and Division III. Overall the Leopards finished in a tie for 24th out of 35 teams and in Division III the Black & Gold finished tied for 13th among 22 teams.

Junior Eric Anderson (Abington, Mass.) led Wentworth as he tied for 62nd overall (out of 171 players), shooting a 10-over 82. Senior John Romanelli (Acushnet, Mass.) finished in a tie for 87th with a 12-over 84, a score also achieved by sophomore Robbie Wells Rogers (Colchester, Vt.). Sophomore Brandon Goold (Foxboro, Mass.) completed the Leopards' top four scores with a 17-over 89, while classmate Dante Christofori (Springfield, Mass.) tied for 160th with a 94.

Wentworth's spring schedule will be announced in early 2013 and will culminate with participation in the 2013 Commonwealth Coast Conference Golf Championship the weekend of April 27-28.
