Wentworth Improves to 4-0-1 With 4-2 Win Over Johnson & Wales

BOSTON, Mass. – Senior forwards Jeff Olitch (Calgary, Alberta) and Michael O'Brien (Royersford, Pa.) each scored a goal and added an assist, while freshman defenseman Shuan Jameson (Long Beach, Calif.) had two assists as the Wentworth hockey team remained unbeaten (4-0-1, 2-0 ECAC Northeast) with a 4-2 win over Johnson & Wales (0-4-0, 0-2) in a league game played at Matthews Arena.

Olitch gave the Leopards a 1-0 lead at the 9:31 mark of the first period when he scored his first marker of the season from Jameson (Long Beach, Calif.) and freshman defenseman Dylan Barbieri (Plainville, Mass.).  Just 12 seconds later the Wildcats tied it up with an unassisted tally from senior defenseman Shane Poulin (Merrimack, N.H.).  The score would remain tied at 1-all with the hosts holding a 14-12 shot advantage after one period of play.

At the 1:31 mark of the second period, Wentworth took a 2-1 lead on a power play goal from O'Brien, which was set up by Jameson and junior forward Geric Brodt (Anchorage, Alaska).  Johnson & Wales tied the score at 2-all with an extra-man goal of its own at 4:23 of the period when Poulin and freshman defenseman Trevor Jewell (Belgrade, Mont.) set up junior forward Craig Houle (Burrillville, R.I.) for a power play goal.  Sophomore forward Skylur Jameson (Long Beach, Calif.) scored a power play goal at 7:53 of the middle period, assisted by Olitch and junior defenseman Kyle Richardson (Long Beach, Calif.), to put Wentworth, which outshot the Wildcats 16-4 in the period, ahead for good.

With 1:56 remaining in the contest, sophomore forward Forrest Ellis (Pembroke, N.H.) rounded out the scoring with an insurance goal, which was assisted by O'Brien and sophomore defenseman Alan Dionne (North Scituate, R.I.).

Senior netminder Justin Marriott (St. Clair Shores, Mich.) made 25 saves for the Leopards, while junior JR Woodland (Picton, Ont.) turned aside 39 shots for the Wildcats.  Wentworth held a 43-27 shot advantage for the game.

Both teams are back in action Saturday night.  Wentworth travels to Western New England, while Johnson & Wales hosts Suffolk.
