SOUTH BURLINGTON, Vt. – Sophomore forward Anthony Scarpino (Meadville, Pa.) recorded four points, including a hat trick, as Hamilton College pinned a 7-3 loss on Wentworth Institute of Technology in the first game of the 2010 Saint Michael's Holiday Classic.

The Leopards, who entered the game ranked 13th in Division III in the latest USCHO.com Poll, surrendered a goal to Scarpino at the 3:52 mark and found themselves trailing, 2-0, after junior forward Joe Buicko (Altamont, N.Y.) scored at 12:44.  Wentworth trimmed the lead to 2-1 when senior forward Michael O'Brien (Royersford, Pa.) scored at 15:50, but Scarpino tallied his second of the period with a power play marker at 18:22 of the period.

At the 4:17 mark of the middle period, Wentworth pulled back within a goal when sophomore forward Casey Shade scored, but 5:30 later Scarpino recorded his third of the game which gave the Continentals a 4-2 lead, a lead that would stand after two period of play.

Wentworth converted its only power play opportunity of the night at 3:24 when freshman defenseman Shaun Jameson (Long Beach, Calif.) scored to bring the Leopards back within one at 4-3.  That would be as close as Wentworth would get as Hamilton used three goals in a 3:10 span to ice the game.

Freshman defenseman Joe Houk (Richboro, Pa.) scored a goal and an assist and sophomore Brandon Broad (West Seneca, N.Y.) dished out a pair of assists to help pace Hamilton while freshman Calvin Bartel (Drake Sask.) made 21 saves for the 4-3-0 Continentals, who saw a two-game losing streak come to an end.

Senior Justin Marriott (St. Clair Shores, Mich.) took the loss for the Leopards, as he made 15 saves on 19 shots over the first 31:18.  Freshman Michael Jarboe (Grosse Point Park, Mich.) made 13 saves on 16 shots over the final 28:42.  Hamilton held a 35-24 shot advantage.  The loss, which snapped a 16 game, regular-season unbeaten streak (15-0-1) for the Leopards, dips Wentworth's record to 7-1-1.

Both teams conclude tournament play tomorrow.  Hamilton faces off against Morrisville at 12:50 p.m., while Wentworth takes on tournament host St. Michael's at 3:50 p.m.
