CCC Men's Soccer Tournament Pairings Announced

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Endicott College has claimed the top seed for the 2015 Commonwealth Coast Conference men's soccer championship, which begins with quarterfinal matchups on campus sites Saturday afternoon.

The Gulls (13-1-3 overall) earned the top seed in the conference tournament after posting an 8-0-1 record in CCC play. Endicott will host eighth-seeded Curry (10-8-1, 2-6-1) in a quarterfinal contest Saturday at a time to be announced.

Other quarterfinal matchups scheduled for Saturday include second-seeded Western New England (10-7-0, 8-1-0) hosting seventh-seeded Nichols (7-11-0, 3-6-0) at 1:00 p.m. In addition, third-seeded Gordon (12-4-0, 7-2-0) will host sixth-seeded Roger Williams (8-8-1, 4-5-0) at 1:00 p.m., while fourth-seeded Wentworth (13-4-0, 6-3-0) will host fifth-seeded Salve Regina (6-9-2, 4-4-1) at a time to be announced.

The quarterfinal matches being hosted by Endicott and Wentworth will be part of a men's/women's doubleheader being played each site. Times for games played at both sites will be announced when pairings for the CCC women's soccer championship are announced on Wednesday. Wentworth is hosting a playoff game for the first time since 2009.

Gordon and Wentworth enter the CCC Tournament as the only league squads ranked in the current NCAA Division III New England regional rankings, as the rivals hold down the eighth and 11th spots in the most recent regional rankings released October 21. Updated regional rankings will be announced on Wednesday, October 28.

This marks the seventh time in program history that the Leopards and Seahawks will play each other in the post-season. Salve Regina holds a 3-2-1 advantage and the last time the two schools played in the CCC Tournament, Wentworth prevailed, 2-1, in overtime on Oct. 29, 2005, in a game which featured snow blanketing the field throughout the contest. Earlier this season, the Leopards defeated the Seahawks, 1-0 and trail the all-time series, 18-12-3.

Quarterfinal winners will advance to the semifinal round which will be played on Tuesday, November 3 at the sites of the higher seeds. Kickoff times will be announced.

Semifinal winners will square off for the conference championship on Saturday, November 7 at the site of the higher seed at a time to be announced.
