Women's Lacrosse Hosts UNE

BOSTON, Mass. – The Wentworth Institute of Technology women's lacrosse team (0-7, 0-3 CCC) continued their conference slate at home Tuesday night, battling the Nor'Easters of the University of New England (8-3, 2-1 CCC). The visitors took the game by a 23-2 score.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • After the Nor'Easters struck for the first three goals of the contest in a span of 1:56, sophomore Jenny Montville (Plainville, Mass.) got the hosts on the board with a goal on a free position shot at the 12:42 mark, cutting the deficit to 3-1. UNE rattled off eight goals to end the first frame, with freshman Sydney Balotin (Jamesville, N.Y.) and freshman Meagan Donovan (Scarborough, Maine) each accounting for two goals on the run.
  • A low-scoring second quarter featured three goals by UNE, expanding their lead to 14-1 at the break.
  • The visitors scored three goals in a span of 7:40 in the third quarter, marking a 17-1 lead.
  • After the Nor'Easters scored four goals to start the final frame, sophomore Kaitlyn Kozak (Saddle Brook, N.J.) found the twine at the 4:20 mark on an assist by Montville, marking a 21-2 score. UNE scored the final two goals of the game, taking the contest 23-2.
  • Freshman Taytum Shanahan (Bozeman, Mont.) made six saves for the Leopards. Montville and senior Viviann Goulet (North Kingstown, R.I.) each caused two turnovers.
