Women's Lacrosse Hosts Roger Williams

BOSTON, Mass. – In a Commonwealth Coast Conference matchup, the Wentworth Institute of Technology women's lacrosse team hosted the Roger Williams Hawks on Sweeney Field Saturday afternoon. The Hawks took the final score, 25-3.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • Roger Williams opened the day with ten goals in the opening quarter from five different student-athletes, taking a 10-0 advantage over the Leopards.
  • The Hawks scored five goals across a span of 10:18 in the second quarter with senior Brooke McErlain (Hampton, N.H.), senior Lily Cunnigham (Melrose, Mass.), senior Mandy Beck (Old Saybrook, Conn.), and senior Ryleigh Cavanaugh (Manchester, N.H.) each notching multi-goal performances in the frame.
  • After the Hawks rattled off three-straight to open the third quarter, senior Helen Hamblett (East Boothbay, Maine) got Wentworth on the board twice in a span of 2:06, scoring at the 5:41 and 3:35 marks, respectively, to mark an 18-2 score. Cunningham ended the quarter's scoring at the 1:41 mark, marking a 19-2 game after three quarters.
  • After two Hawks opened the scoring in the fourth quarter, sophomore Shayleah Gunning-Lavoie (Laconia, N.H.) scored at the 11:13 mark to mark a 21-3 score. Beck capped a four-goal run to give the Hawks a 25-3 conference win.
  • Hamblett led the hosts with three points, five draw controls, and two caused turnovers. In goal, sophomore Lily Cohen (Cherry Hill, N.J.) made three saves.
