Sanders, Ballard Named Leopards of the Week

BOSTON, Mass. – Freshman Emma Sanders (Mount Pleasant, S.C.) of women's volleyball and sophomore Ryan Ballard of men's cross country have been named Leopards of the Week for the week of September 11-17

Sanders' performance last weekend at the two-day Misericordia Cougar Classic was nothing short of extraordinary as the rookie came back to Boston as the tournament's most valuable player. In a 3-1 win over the host Cougars on September 16, Sanders struck for a program-best 23 kills, sporting a hitting percentage of .438. In the Leopards' other match of the day against New Paltz, Sanders notched a double-double with 19 kills and 11 digs as Wentworth capped off a 2-2 weekend.

Ballard led the Leopards to a second-place finish at the Pop Crowell Invitational held at Gordon College Sunday, individually finishing fourth overall with a time of 27:25. His finish was 35 seconds behind the first-place finisher and just before three other members of the Black & Gold who also placed in the top ten.
