BOSTON, Mass. – Ralph Evans, who served as Wentworth's Head Athletic Trainer for 23 years, passed away on Wednesday, September 20, after a brief illness. He was 81 years old.

Evans came to Wentworth in 1990 and served as the head athletic trainer until his retirement in the spring of 2013. During his time he has helped evaluate, rehabilitate, and care for thousands of Wentworth's student-athletes. Often going above and beyond the call of duty, he has put in countless extra hours throughout his career to ensure his student-athletes received the care they needed.

Prior to joining the Leopard staff, he served two stints at Bentley College. From 1972-1980, he was the Head Athletic Trainer and returned to the Waltham campus in 1989. From 1980-1988, Evans served as the Fitness Director and Athletic Trainer at the Boston Racquet Club. In addition to his work at Wentworth, he served as the Athletic Trainer for the Brockton Rox baseball team. He has also worked with the National Football League's New York Giants and New England Patriots and worked for many years in the medical tent at the finish line of the Boston Marathon, treating thousands of runners who have completed the 26.2 mile course.

Outside of Wentworth, Evans achieved the rank of Lieutenant Colonel in the Civil Air Patrol and was a historian of many things sports-related, including Braves Field.
