Farinas Named CCC Rookie of the Week

BOSTON, Mass. – After the Wentworth Institute of Technology baseball team finished the week with a 4-1 record, freshman pitcher Brodi Farinas (Lewiston, Maine) was named the Commonwealth Coast Conference Rookie of the Week. Farinas earns the honor for games played from March 29-April 4.

Farinas appeared in three of the Leopards' five games on the week, posting a 0-0 record with a 9.34 strikeout per nine average and a 1.04 earned run average. He yielded six hits and walked just two in 8.2 innings of work. In his first collegiate start on April 3, he earned a no decision after allowing one run on five hits while walking one and striking out six in six innings. Wentworth won the game, 5-4, on a walk-off single in the bottom of the ninth.

On the season, Farinas leads the team in appearances (five), having pitched 12.2 innings (tied for the team lead) while posting a 1.42 earned run average and a 9.95 strikeout per nine inning average.

Wentworth travels to Suffolk for a CCC doubleheader on Saturday afternoon.
