French Repeats as Academic All-District Selection

BOSTON, Mass. – Senior Aidan French (Chicago, Ill.) of the Wentworth Institute of Technology baseball team has had an outstanding career for the Leopards and today he was rewarded for both his athletic and academic excellence by being named to the 2021 Academic All-District® Baseball and Softball Team, selected by CoSIDA.

The 2021 Academic All-District® Baseball Team, selected by CoSIDA, recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom.

An Architecture major and a repeat selection to this team, French becomes the 29th Academic All-District selection for Wentworth since 1995. As an Academic All-District selection, French will advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® ballot along with representatives from seven other districts. Academic All-America® honorees will be announced on July 27. French is also the first Leopard baseball student-athlete to earn repeat honors.

This season French batted .281 with five doubles, one triple, one home run, 12 runs scored, eight runs batted in, and three stolen bases while also posting an on-base percentage of .406 and a slugging percentage of .456. He led the team in doubles and runs scored and was tied for the team lead in triples and home runs. On April 17, he became the 23rd Wentworth baseball student-athlete to eclipse the career 100-hit mark.

A two-time (2019, 2021) All-Commonwealth Coast Conference selection and a three-year captain for the Black & Gold, French has started all 89 games in which he has played, batting .337 (104-for-309) with 19 doubles, two triples, four home runs, 32 stolen bases (in 36 attempts), 72 runs scored, and 42 runs batted in and has a career on-base percentage of .428 and a career slugging percentage of .450. His career batting average ranks him fourth all-time in program history while he ranks fifth in on-base percentage and stolen bases.

The CoSIDA Academic All-America® program separately recognizes baseball and softball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and the NAIA.
