HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • While both teams had chances throughout the first half, it was Husson which netted the only goal of the frame as junior Florian Gasser (Frauenfield, Switzerland) tapped in a ball from the lower left mark after receiving a pass from freshman Hugo Llopiz (Madrid, Spain) at 19:38.
  • Senior Jacob Dukeshire (Nashua, N.H.) tied the game for the Leopards as he took advantage of a turnover and put home a shot at the 48:40 mark. Duekshire gave the Leopards a 2-1 lead 3:30 later when a pass back attempt by the Eagles left the ball and net open and he capitalized on the miscue for the go-ahead marker.
  • Husson tied the game at the 58:28 mark when junior Mario Alvarez (Madrid, Spain) took a corner kick from the close spot. His attempt hit the inside of the post and found the back of the net. D'Amico's game winner came after the Eagles had open space in the offensive end. After Leopard defenders applied pressure, junior Pedro Molina (Madrid, Spain) took a shot which was saved by senior Noah Lawless (Whitefish Bay, Wisc.), however, the rebound came out to D'Amico who scored to the low center of the net.
  • Wentworth put pressure on the hosts in the waning moments of the contest, however, were unable to get the equalizer.
  • Lawless made eight saves in the game for the Black & Gold.

THE SERIES:

  • Today was the third meeting between the two teams and first since 2019.
